Job Description:
The Norfolk Regional Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated bachelor's Level Human Services Intern to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. This internship provides an opportunity to observe and actively participate in various aspects of patient care, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration within a behavioral health environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Observe and assist in leading psycho-educational groups alongside a facilitator.
Support documentation efforts by assisting with monthly progress notes for psycho-educational groups.
Attend treatment team meetings, contributing insights and observations on patient progress.
Participate in treatment plan review meetings to enhance understanding of patient care strategies.
Observe Sex Offender (SO) groups facilitated by two master's level therapists.
Engage in hospital-wide meetings and attend daily psychology department meetings.
Participate in weekly supervision meetings with therapy staff for guidance and professional development.
Observe Substance Use Disorder (SUD) groups and present an approved educational topic to patients.
Assist in the development and modification of patient treatment plans, including identifying problem areas, setting objectives, and formulating interventions while documenting progress.
Observe groups and activities provided by various hospital disciplines.
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures to ensure compliance and professional conduct.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Strong interest in behavioral health, treatment planning, and group facilitation.
Excellent communication and observational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a clinical setting.
