Job Description:

The Norfolk Regional Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated bachelor's Level Human Services Intern to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. This internship provides an opportunity to observe and actively participate in various aspects of patient care, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration within a behavioral health environment.



Key Responsibilities:

• Observe and assist in leading psycho-educational groups alongside a facilitator.


• Support documentation efforts by assisting with monthly progress notes for psycho-educational groups.


• Attend treatment team meetings, contributing insights and observations on patient progress.


• Participate in treatment plan review meetings to enhance understanding of patient care strategies.


• Observe Sex Offender (SO) groups facilitated by two master's level therapists.


• Engage in hospital-wide meetings and attend daily psychology department meetings.


• Participate in weekly supervision meetings with therapy staff for guidance and professional development.


• Observe Substance Use Disorder (SUD) groups and present an approved educational topic to patients.


• Assist in the development and modification of patient treatment plans, including identifying problem areas, setting objectives, and formulating interventions while documenting progress.


• Observe groups and activities provided by various hospital disciplines.


• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures to ensure compliance and professional conduct.

Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications:Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.



Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.


• Strong interest in behavioral health, treatment planning, and group facilitation.


• Excellent communication and observational skills.


• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a clinical setting.
