Position Overview: RWE is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design team. The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in electrical systems design, a strong understanding of industry standards, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical design solutions.



Your new role

• Perform advanced electrical calculations, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination


• Prepare and review electrical design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for successful execution


• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs with overall project goals.


• Oversee the selection and specification of electrical equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and protection relays, ensuring compatibility with systems
  
  
  • Conduct detailed design reviews, ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements and industry standards
  
  
  • Lead the coordination and troubleshooting of electrical system issues during the design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  
  
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers, promoting professional development and adherence to best practices.
  
  
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management standards during all phases of design and execution.
  
  
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of electrical systems.
  
  
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to electrical engineering and renewable energy.
  
  
  
  

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.


• 7+ years of experience in electrical design


• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems design, including power distribution, protection, grounding, and control systems.


• Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SKM PowerTools)


• Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, IEEE, IEC, etc.).


• Proven ability to manage complex projects, including coordination with internal teams and external vendors and stakeholders.


• Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Professional Engineering (PE) license


• Knowledge of electrical grid integration and energy storage systems is a plus.
