Your Role:
MilliporeSigma in Burlington, MA is looking for a Bioprocess Engineer to join the Downstream Focused Modalities Applications R&Dorganization. This individual will take the lead to drive the hands-on bioprocessing applications development activities on prototype and commercial products. Based on understanding the end users' bioprocesses & perspectives, the Bioprocessing Applications Engineer will design applications studies to provide guidance for process development, optimization and deployment of MilliporeSigma technologies.
Responsibilities:
Work on a cross-functional team to deliver application studies focused on the MilliporeSigma product portfolio.
Plan, set up, and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate the performance of new technologies, or new product or component prototypes for a given application scenario.
Define process control strategies and design recipes and methods for optimal operation of MilliporeSigma product offerings.
Research literature and attend conferences to keep current with the bioprocessing end user's process design targets, performance expectations, and general bioprocessing needs.
Deliver internal and external written literature and oral presentations evaluating product designs and/or summarizing experimental results with a focus on technical performance.
This position may include Domestic and international travel.
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Science field with 2+ years of bioprocess development experience
-OR-
Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Science field
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands on Pharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology industry experience
Experience with setting up and executing downstream unit operations including chromatography, normal flow filtration and tangential flow filtration
Prior experience in analytical methods and high throughput platforms with respect to downstream process development
Excellent problem solving & analytical skills, including data modeling, DoE, and/or statistical analysis
Excellent teamwork, and facilitation skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers, customers, vendors and supervisors
Excellent ability to communicate through written reports, oral presentations, application notes, poster presentations, and similar media
