Executes stock trades within area guidelines. Ensures that each trade is handled equitably and settled properly. Monitors securities prices and communicates them to portfolio managers when necessary. Conducts trading with sufficient speed and accuracy to successfully process the order flow. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Major Duties:

• Executes securities trades with minimal market impact.


• Ensures that trade orders are executed fairly and equitably (e.g. prompt execution without bias toward originating source).


• Apprises portfolio managers and other appropriate parties of relevant information affecting securities prices (e.g. trading volume, etc.).


• Ensures that trades settle properly.


• Maintains daily broker contact to conduct equity trading.


• Responds to client and partner inquiries as needed.


• Continue to enhance knowledge of markets and tools provided to execute.


• Help develop and adhere to trading desk procedures.


• Identify areas of risk and opportunities to gain efficiencies and help design, implement solutions.

Knowledge:

• FINRA Series 7 license required, FINRA Series 57 and 63 preferred or willingness to obtain


• Python knowledge a plus.


• Prior experience with Flextrade, Bloomberg, Wealthscape/FBSI (NFS) also helpful.


• Knowledge of investments, including terminology, instruments, general industry practices, market structures, execution techniques, regulatory environment and relevant securities laws.


• Knowledge of the context in which trading activity occurs (i.e., favorable and unfavorable effects of various transactions on stock price, etc.), acquired through work experience, to execute trades with minimal impact.


• Ability to respond to market events and make quick decisions.

Experience:

• A college or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience for a financial industry; participation in certification programs as dedicated per region preferred.

Salary Range:
$116,100 - 197,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
