GPI Geospatial is seeking a Project Surveyor to join our Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing technical operations on projects, managing schedules and budgets, and collaborating with other managers to effectively utilize both field and office staff to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Position Overview



The role involvesmanaging survey and mapping projects, processing conventional and GNSS survey data, performing boundary and right of way resolutions, supervising the preparation of boundary and right of way plats, easements, and legal descriptions, performing quality assurance and project management for land development, energy, transportation, and municipal projects. The position offers the opportunity to plan projects and process data from robotic surveying instruments, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, UAS Lidar sensors, and hydrographic survey equipment.



Responsibilities:



  • Develop procedures for the delivery of quality survey project data.

  • Coordination with the Sr. Survey Manager to evaluate resourcing and scheduling.

  • Assist the Sr. Survey Manager with quality assurance efforts to ensure the quality of surveying data from survey fieldwork and computations.

  • Monitor production and project schedules and report status to Sr. Survey Manager.

  • Perform complex survey control computations, boundary/right of way resolution, and topographic mapping from conventionally surveyed and remote sensed data.

  • In charge of the quality of work and adherence to state and local requirements.

  • Uses established workflows and procedures for the development and editing of survey products.

  • Assists in developing quality survey products, including geospatial accuracy, proper field procedures, accurate calculations, CADD drafting, and product quality and accuracy.

  • Generates accurate DTM and surface models for contour development.

  • Ensures timeliness of survey data processing and review prior to final deliverable production.

  • Assist with the data management and distribution of survey data.

  • Develop field packages for local field crews.

  • Calculates boundary and R/W lines.

  • Process control information, including GNSS and differential level processing.

  • Develop control plans and surveyor's reports.

  • Review the project scope of services and ensure client specifications are being followed.


Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of relevant land survey experience, including field staff management

  • Professional North Carolina or South Carolina Survey licensure a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of surveying principles, regulations, techniques, and procedures

  • Expertise with all survey phases, including boundaries, topography, platting, construction stakeout, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Carlson, Civil 3-D, or Bentley Open Roads Designer

  • Experience processing surveying data using Leica Infinity, a plus

  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of project requirements from inception to completion




Requirements



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration

  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members

  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours

  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)

  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working

  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
