Position Title: Personal Care Assistant (Life Skills Classroom)



Location: Prospect Park, PA



Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)


Job Summary



Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in supporting students in a Life Skills classroom at the high school level. The PCA will provide personalized assistance to students, including help with daily tasks, emotional regulation, and academic support. Additionally, the PCA will foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by assisting other students in the classroom when needed.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to students in the Emotional Support Classroom, including assistance with personal care, mobility, and emotional regulation.
  
  


• Help students complete academic tasks by offering guidance and encouragement.
  
  


• Assist with behavioral interventions, guiding students in managing emotional responses constructively.
  
  


• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment by setting and upholding clear boundaries.
  
  


• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement individualized student support plans.
  
  


• Supervise students during breaks, lunch, and other school activities.
  
  


• Provide support to additional students in the classroom as necessary to foster collaboration.
  
  


• Participate in virtual interviews with the staffing agency during the selection process.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required). Additional coursework in special education or child development is a plus.
  
  


• Preferred experience working with students, especially in special education or emotional support environments.
  
  


• Strong communication skills, with a patient and compassionate approach.
  
  


• Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations, working as part of a team.
  
  


• Successful completion of background checks and school-mandated screenings.
  
  

Required Clearances

• Pennsylvania State Criminal Clearance (Act 34) - Valid within 1 year.
  
  


• Pennsylvania State Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) - Valid within 1 year.
  
  


• FBI Fingerprinting - Valid within 1 year.
  
  


• Mandated Reporter Training (Act 31).
  
  


• TB/Physical - Valid within 1 year.
  
  


• License to practice (if applicable).
  
  


• CPR/First Aid certification (not required).
