The Building Engineer I is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, life safety, and tenant requests, as well as other tasks assigned by the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer as required.
Responsibilities
Ensure that all building systems are being operated safely, efficiently, and as originally intended. Systems include HVAC, water treatment plants, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety. Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs to building systems and equipment. Assist Chief/Assistant Chief Engineer with data entry of building equipment and tasks, and scheduling of the Preventive Maintenance program. Complete all service requests promptly. Self-initiate service requests as needed. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and regulations. Work with vendors and contractors within the building. Troubleshoot and repair building systems. Monitor all building systems. Respond to building emergencies. Identify opportunities to continually improve maintenance processes and make recommendations to supervisors. Respond to 24-hour emergency calls as required. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Maintain and control inventory as needed for cost-effective operations. Prepare reports and documentation as required. Strictly adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned.
