Job Description Summary

Works on a team responsible for developing, configuring, and providing system design and support services to assigned business units; analyzes business processes to identify and coordinate development of efficient technology solutions to meet business and operational requirements; facilitates development of priorities with managers; coordinates and participates in application testing and problem resolution; provides a variety of user support. Maintains and supports assigned applications software; tests software updates; troubleshoots and resolves application problems and performance issues; serves as liaison between business units and technical staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Monitors the performance and operation status of servers, software and multiple systems configurations and reports to management; provides ongoing support and maintenance of software applications including upgrades, patches, and enhancements to ensure optimal functionality. Performs SQL queries for troubleshooting; Diagnoses hardware and software errors; performs other maintenance and repairs.

  • Determines and analyzes business requirements to understand the scope, objective, and technical needs for business unit/process. Collaborates with stakeholders, including business users, developers, and project managers, to gather and document functional and technical specification.

  • Develops and coordinates automated processes (to include, but not limited to workflows, forms, macros, etc.) according to functional specifications and guidelines; ensures new functions do not alter or reduce system performance to unacceptable levels.

  • Coordinates and/or participates in developing test scripts and test cases; analyzes the effectiveness and functionality of new system or process to ensure all requirements are met, records test results, notifies vendor or programming staff of testing problems and required fixes.

  • Assists in the investigation and resolution of reported issues or incidents related to application, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.

  • Manages outstanding requests related to reports, processes or supported platforms by working with users/business owners to gather information necessary to prioritize, classify and diagnose, resolve, and close.

  • Assists departments with the evaluation of new and existing technologies/processes and tools to meet their business needs and process requirements, participates with other technology stakeholders in the evaluation of the necessary technologies and tools to determine its functionality, interoperability, reliability, availability, and supportability; works with the system owners and managers in the technical integration of the new systems and solutions. Participates in evaluating work processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Completes and submits Information Security Reviews to ensure compliance with requirements and integration within existing technology environment.

  • Implements and monitors batch processing to ensure jobs are run as scheduled and completed accurately. Identifies the causes of a variety of processing problems and takes corrective action to resolve problems promptly or escalates on actions to be taken as necessary; contacts external vendors to resolve problems as warranted.

  • Works closely with other departments to ensure extracts and updates run successfully.

  • Maintains automation schedules to perform daily, weekly, and monthly processing and reporting; monitors the operational status of applicable system software.

  • Provides on-call technical assistance 24/7 on a variety of issues involving computer software troubleshooting. Informs users of system-wide issues and resolutions; documents work performed in helpdesk software.

  • Provides technical software guidance, training and mentoring to staff; reviews project schedules and advises on methodologies, plans and technical solutions; ensures all projects meet business unit requirements and expectations are completed in accordance with Credit Union standard and guidelines.

  • Coordinates and executes Change Management requests to move configuration settings, etc. into the production environment.

  • Performs user applications support in assigned areas of functional responsibility; research, analyze, troubleshoot, make recommendations and/or resolves a wide variety of system problems; instructs users on methods for resolving issues and problems; act as liaison with vendors and escalate problems when vendor support is required for resolution.

  • Installs, configures, and performs standard application maintenance activities; tests standard and specialized software to meet end-user requirements. Analyzes software and add, modify, or delete components, customize settings, and perform updates. Distributes documentation to users regarding system modifications and updates.

  • Assists in preparing training plans and outlines; assists in developing training materials; assists in developing and maintaining user and system documentation; distributes notification to users regarding system modifications and updates.

  • Participates in the production of periodic and ad-hoc reports within the designated application for the business owner or administration.

  • Stays abreast of developing trends and changes in technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions and improvements. Completes all required training programs to maintain a current knowledge applicable to assigned duties and responsibilities, including regulatory compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements

4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field - Required

Experience Requirement

1 Year - Experience in performing user support, testing, and related functions for business applications - Required

  • Understanding of the principles and practices of disaster recovery.

  • Communicate in a professional manner and deliver information clearly and effectively. Actively listen to questions, opinions, and ideas of others. Use tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Use correct English including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Set priorities and manage one’s own time effectively.
