Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL Tanker Stockpile Truck (A/C) Driver to join our Logistics Fleet. Job Description:
The successful candidate will perform duties to drive a tractor and tanker trailer for the purpose of loading, transporting, and off-loading liquid asphalt to Asphalt Plant; and to perform various tasks needed in the safest and most expedient manner.
Job Duties:
Maintain valid Class-A CDL with Tanker Endorsement & Current DOT Medical Card.
Perform pre-trip inspection which includes (but is not limited to): checking oil, water, fuel, tires and lights on tractor, tanker, & related equipment each morning prior to starting the day's activities. Must report any problems or malfunctions to supervisor.
Receive job assignment from supervisor or dispatcher.
Safely load liquid asphalt into the tanker at asphalt plants or other designated loading points. Ensure proper procedures are followed during loading and unloading processes, including securing the tanker and connecting hoses. Comply with all company, DOT, Federal, State, and local safety regulations.
The ability to complete a trip ticket for each move made or keep receipt for materials hauled and turn tickets in to supervisor.
Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including mileage, hours of service, fuel purchases, and delivery details. Complete all necessary paperwork and logbooks promptly and accurately.
The ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs to truck such as painting, washing, cleaning, etc.
Follow assigned delivery schedules and routes to transport liquid asphalt to various construction sites or customer locations. Efficiently plan routes, considering factors like traffic conditions, road restrictions, and customer requirements.
The ability to assist asphalt plant crew in the performance of various laborious duties when truck is not needed or in use.
Follow all safety rules and company policies and procedures.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents, spills, or environmental damage. Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow guidelines for handling hazardous materials.
Be prepared to respond to emergencies or accidents by following established procedures, contacting appropriate authorities, and providing assistance as necessary.
Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with customers, contractors, or the public. Provide excellent customer service and address any inquiries or concerns promptly.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Maintain professional conduct at all times.
Complete all assigned Learning Management System initiatives.
Experience & Knowledge:
Over one year and up to three years to become familiar with the safe and proper operation of tractor and tanker trailer; hauling liquid asphalt; backing up to storage tanks; working next to heavy equipment; loading/off-loading on various subgrades and inclines.
Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job).
Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
Able and willing to work a 2nd shift schedule.
Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions is required. Check reports, forms, records and comparable data, where interpretation is required.
Initiative & Ingenuity:
Use of some judgment to comply with instructions or prescribed routines, methods or practices involving the making of minor decisions.
Physical Activity & Demand:
Position requires the ability to climb in and out of truck and on and off tanker as required. The position requires the ability to grasp, push and pull levers and to operate foot pedals. Such physical activity to operate control levers is repetitive in motion of the wrist, hands and fingers;
Frequently reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Position requires ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word in English and the ability to perceive sounds and receive detailed information through oral communications and to make fine discrimination in equipment noises which may indicate mechanical problems.
Moderate physical effort required to operate truck and get water. Occasional lifting of light weight material up to 25 pounds with rarely lifting or moving heavy weight material over 60 pounds. Position would require the ability to lift 60-pound material.
Mental & Visual Demand:
Continuous mental and visual attention required to operate the Tractor and Stockpile trailer with a load in congested and high traffic areas. The position requires visual activity as required by DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Responsibility for Equipment:
Responsible for preventing damage to equipment due to improper operation, handling or use.
Responsibility for Material:
Responsible for preventing damage to material or product due to improper handling/operation of Tractor & tanker trailer.
Responsibility for Safety of Others:
Constant care necessary to prevent injury to others, due to inherent hazards. An accident, should it occur, would most likely result in injuries of a partially incapacitating nature such as fractures, cuts or more serious injuries that may be common in an automotive accident.
Responsibility for Work of Others:
Responsible for own work.
Working Conditions:
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with continuous exposure to dirt, mud, seasonal temperature variances, weather, oil, grease and congested traffic to the extent of being objectionable.
Regularly exposed to high, precarious places.
Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
Hazards:
Injuries, should they occur, would result in partial incapacitation due to fractures, cuts, back injuries and more serious injuries that may be common in an automotive accident.
