Employee Type: RegularThis position will oversee and supervise a group of workforce employees in a skilled area of production and maintenance while maintaining morale, attendance, safety, and environmental compliance. The work duties to be performed by the work group include construction activities and early mining, including uncovering, removal, and delivery of compliant product to the customer. This position requires performing administrative duties, including developing and maintaining records and other pertinent office functions associated with workforce supervision.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supervises the daily activities of heavy equipment operators and maintenance personnel to facilitate the required production.
Effectively plans and schedules production and maintenance work using personnel, materials, and equipment.
Coordinates all safety activities to ensure proper training for personnel and maintain or exceed compliance with North American Mining and MSHA safety standards.
Ensures the group's work takes place in a safe and efficient working environment using safe and efficient work practices.
Ensures the work of the group adheres to established environmental standards.
Performs administrative duties associated with supervision, such as ensuring accurate time records and assessing individual performance, including attendance, counseling, and correcting unacceptable behavior.
Coordinates work with other departments and shifts to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
Maintains productivity records to establish current and future production schedules, maintenance costs, and predict equipment availability.
Performs job duties by following MSHA laws and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
OTHER DUTIES:
Provides high-level training to employees on equipment and tools to meet or exceed MSHA requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of large industrial earth-moving equipment capabilities and application.
Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of MSHA regulations, general safety practices, and environmental standards for mining.
Ability to effectively direct the work of crew members to perform safely and efficiently.
Ability to build and maintain a positive work environment that encourages open communication.
Ability to work with confidential information and situations.
Basic computer skills, to include Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to perform in a rotating shift schedule environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Supervisory experience or training in areas of supervision is required. MSHA IS certification a plus.
Minimum 3-5 years of related experience is necessary for someone to start in this position. A college degree may be substituted for up to 3 years of experience.
Vocational technical training and/or 3-5 years of experience in surface mining may be required depending on supervision area. Additional past work experience may be considered equivalent.
