About This Role:



The Marketing Student Assistant reports directly to the Director of Recreational Sports. The main goal of the Marketing Student Assistant is to promote attendance and participation at student events hosted by Recreational Sports through creative design and effective marketing.


Position Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with all professional staff within the department of recreational sports to develop marketing strategies for upcoming events, programs, and operational information


• Graphic design of flyers and other promotional items


• Photography, Videography, and editing of events and programs for marketing purposes


• Use of social media to inform constituents of events, programs, and other operational information and encourage attendance


• Tabling and promoting the Rec Center and all programs as requested


• Use of content management system to create and maintain webpages for recreational sports


• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be full-time Lamar University student


• Must show examples of previous design work or content creation if selected for
  interview


• Exceptional communication skills in speaking, copywriting, emails, etc.


• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous projects


• Willingness to complete assignments outside the normal scope of marketing and/or design
  
  
  
  

• Marketing and/or graphic design students preferred


• Skills in Adobe CS including Illustrator and Photoshop and Microsoft Office


• Knowledge of best practices in online/social media campaigns and/or ability to learn effective strategies for using relevant social media platforms


• Skill in content management systems used to create and maintain webpages

Up to 19.5 hours per week, 7 days a week, various times depending on events

Must be willing to attend Recreation events to gather content
