Fire Alarm CAD Designer at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in West Monroe, Louisiana

Job Description:

The Fire Alarm Designer will contribute to the creation of safe and efficient fire alarm systems. The Fire Alarm Designer will utilize expertise in fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards to design customized fire alarm systems tailored to our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing fire safety in various environments.
*Essential Duties & Responsibilities:* 

* Design and draft fire alarm systems using AutoCAD
* Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, and other relevant codes and standards.
* Prepare submittal packages, riser diagrams, and floor plans.
* Communicate with architects, engineers, electrical contractors, and owners to obtain necessary files in a timely manner.
* Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and clients to meet project requirements.
* Perform voltage drop, battery calculations, and circuiting layouts.
* Assist in product selection and specification based on project needs.
* Review and interpret fire alarm design requirements.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
* Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.

*Education/Qualification:*  

* High school diploma or GED.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD and familiarity with fire alarm systems.
* Knowledge of NFPA codes and fire alarm design principles is preferred.
* Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* NICET in Fire Alarm Systems (or willingness to obtain). Preferred but not required
* 1 Year minimum experience with AutoCAD
*Physical Requirements:*

* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

* While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
