The Hexagon Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial User Experience team supports our customers in making the world a safer place. The UX team works directly with customers in the public safety, safe/smart cities, and security industries. Because our customers are the first responders in times of emergency, designing and developing tools that help them succeed is exciting and meaningful work.
The UX team includes visual and interaction designers, user researchers, UX Quality Assurance (QA), and UX Editor working across many product portfolios within our division. We are looking for talented professionals to plan and execute complex assignments in the development of global products and solutions, with an emphasis on application usability by a large number of office and mobile users.
The ideal candidate will support the larger team by performing the following UX design tasks:
Support design of user experience for software products from conception to delivery
Collaborate with designers, user researchers, software developers, Product Management, and Marketing to ensure the delivery of excellent user experiences
Support the UX team in the creation of wireframes and higher fidelity UI designs
Leverage existing design system component library to build high fidelity UI designs
Adhere to styling guidelines set by Design Operations team
Contribute new components to the team's design system, as needed
Ability to break down workflows into task flows
Research and evaluate emerging trends in interaction and interface design and match those to users' needs
Ensure that design guidelines are maintained and shared with appropriate stakeholders to guide product design and development
Support conducting contextual inquiry to gain an understanding of user environments, scenarios, workflows, and tasks
Collaborate with the user research team to organize, conduct, and evaluate prototype software design through usability testing
Support the UX team in the development of user models, including journey maps and workflow analysis documents
Qualifications
5-8 years of experience in UI/UX design of web-based and/or mobile software applications
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers, users, and other product team members
Ability to lead design discussions with stakeholders and other development team members
Enthusiasm for an agile, iterative design process, driven by customer needs and requests
Ability to collaborate with distributed team members to create and communicate content strategy
Working knowledge of user artifact creation (i.e., personas, journey maps)
Ability to create low and high fidelity UI designs , with a focus on user-centered workflow design
Ability to design across devices and systems, including desktop, web-based, and mobile applications
Ability to travel to customers sites (10-25%) to engage with users through ride-alongs, interviews, and usability tests
Ability to perform tasks that require moderate physical activity such as: walking 2 miles, standing for extended periods of time, lifting and carrying 25lbs (for example, a backpack containing a laptop and other user testing equipment)
Required: Proficient in Figma
Preferred: Experience collaborating with a User Experience team of designers and researchers
Preferred: Experience leveraging design patterns and components from design systems, libraries, or style guides
Preferred: Ability to prototype in Axure RP, Figma, Sketch, or other tools
Education:
Required: 4-year degree (BS or BA) in Interaction Design, HCI, or design-related field
