Job Description:

Baker Botts, a full-service, leading international law firm recognized for our understanding of the industries we serve, is seeking a Project Manager to join our Project Management Organization (PMO). The PMO captures and evaluates project requests for alignment with Firm strategy and resources. It manages the portfolio of Firm projects and conducts quarterly update meetings to review project status and portfolio changes to foster cross functional collaboration and promote project success.

This position provides project management services for one or more of the Firm’s PMO Projects and assists in building out PMO processes, templates, training, and engagement/user adoption sessions. This full-time, exempt, hybrid position can be based in our Washington DC, Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, or Palo Alto offices; and comes with excellent benefits.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management services on firmwide projects involving resources from multiple departments, vendors, and geographies to include but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinate people and processes to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results.
  • Collaborate with project team members and others to develop achievable project schedule.
  • Align resources to project tasks.
  • Actively assesses, document, and address project risk.
  • Augment PMO processes, templates, and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • As a Project Manager, may coordinate or occasionally direct the work of staff members and external vendors, where needed, to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects. No direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in Legal Services, Professional Services, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to details and technicalities.
  • Excellent organizational and technical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
  • Team player with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of project management life cycle and various project management methodologies.
  • Business Process improvement and integration experience.
  • Experience with Smartsheet desired.

Extent of Contact (Within and outside the Firm):


This position requires contact with individuals within the firms as follows:
  • Project team members and other Project Managers
  • Members of each of the Firm’s functions to include Chiefs, Directors, Managers and Staff
  • Senior Leadership of the Firm
This position requires contact with individuals outside the firm as follows:
  • Vendors that manage Firm systems as well as provide professional services to the Firm.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment with time restraints and frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to sit for extensive periods of time, either while using the telephone or computer.

Working Condition and Environment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical office environment, which includes the ability to visit face-to-face and virtually with colleagues.
  • Position is full-time and requires a five-day work week and standard hours as outlined in the Firm policy manual. Additional hours, including weekend and evening hours may be required to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Position may require a moderate level of out-of-town travel, including weekends.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to the office.
  • This role is hybrid. The amount of in office time and travel is on demand.
The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $156,000. The listed salary range covers multiple locations, and the actual compensation will be determined based on the employee's work location.
