Job Summary
This is a temporary hourly position in the Athletic Department and all duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NAIA, and the University.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Performs a variety of roles for the sport assigned to include contacting recruits, setting up visits with recruits, helping with recruits' visits, and helping with supervision and coaching at practices and matches. Reports to the Head Coach assigned to or the Athletic Director.
Actively recruits quality student-athletes for the assigned sport. This can and will include calling, emailing, and visiting coaches, Athletic Directors, student-athletes, and events for the purpose of having them admitted to IU East for participation in the athletic team.
Provides coaching and supervision during practices and matches. This may include specific coaching areas or maybe general oversight.
May be asked to help with another team's temporary needs, as well as another team's supervision if the need arises. This request will be made through the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.

1 year of coaching soccer or collegiate playing experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University
Certification in basic first aid

American Heart Certification in CPR
SKILLS
Required
Strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NAIA rules and regulations
Proficient communication skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, the River State Conference, and the NAIA
Ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. This role frequently requires the ability to handle or operate objects, controls, or tools listed above; ascend/descend ladders or stairs; position self to move at lower levels. This position demands extreme physical fitness and the ability to perform specific skill work in the sport of soccer. The role requires the ability to frequently move objects weighing up to 100 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and detect how far away an object is. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation
This role may include coaching in hot and cold indoor facilities, outdoor environments, and exposure to elements such as fumes, inadequate lighting, glare, awkward working position, dust, etc. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
Additional Information
The Assistant Coach will not engage in any outside activities in television, radio, clothing or shoe sponsorship, internet, or camps unless those activities are expressly approved in writing and in advance by the Athletic Director.
