 Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Systems Administrator, Advanced for our client located in Tallahassee, FL.

This position is onsite in Tallahassee, FL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1. 

Job Overview:

  • Our client is in search of a Systems Administrator to play a key role in assisting the OIT in the oversight, management, troubleshooting, and execution of cloud services and platforms to support the client's infrastructure, applications, data, and other business needs.
  • The duties of this position can be broad and may include such tasks as adding and removing individuals from the list of authorized users, archiving files, overseeing password protection and other security measures, and monitoring usage of shared resources.
  • Architect, design, facilitate, lead, coordinate, and direct technology initiatives on multiple fronts across a variety of disparate areas within the organization.
  • This could include Infrastructure administration, application development, data management & analytics, cybersecurity, external hosting, identity and access management, infrastructure, network, security hardening, privacy, and compliance.
  • Oversight and management of Microsoft 365 environments and other Microsoft platforms, identity platforms, and a multi-cloud environment.
  • Selects, develops, integrates and implements network management applications for Internet components.
  • The Systems Administrator will be responsible for working on projects, systems, and/or issues of medium to high complexity and will be expected to provide daily operations support, maintenance, and administration for Servers.
  • This position requires ownership of complex issues in order to support Department business.
  • Support and expand FDOT infrastructure.
  • Coordinate server configuration and administration with multiple parties (SDC, FDOT, and contractors).
  • Make recommendations for future server and software upgrades.
  • Monitor systems and applications to ensure security, availability, and performance.
  • Establish systems by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network and systems performance by performing systems monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting systems and application problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Build and manage relationships in a matrixed environment.
  • Find opportunities to refactor solutions to obtain better performance, cost, and efficiency.
  • Create and manage Azure DevOps projects, git repositories, and pipelines.
  • Oversee and configure Azure DevOps organizational settings.
  • Recommend and assist with the building and hosting of complex application solutions.
  • Understand, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure and/or other cloud services.
  • Understand, deploy, and manage Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Understand and manage Microsoft 365 services.
  • Supports other IT staff, including developers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 – 3 years experience with: Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • 2 – 3 years IIS Administration.
  • 2 – 3 years of network communications, including TCP/IP and DNS Samba/CIFS file sharing and NTFS permissions.
  • 3 – 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in systems operations, support, maintenance, and administration.
  • 5 – 8 years of professional experience in information systems engineering or another related field is required.
  • Strong analytical skills to determine an organization's needs, develop strategies to meet those needs, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Ability to categorize work, set priorities, and determine short and/or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems effectively regardless of technology platform.
  • Ability to document and automate administrative tasks to reduce manual work
  • Ability to context switch between multiple subjects & tasks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and share knowledge with others.
  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic business environment.
  • Proficiency in networking principles and cloud-based network architectures.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure Services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server products.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux (Redhat and Ubuntu).
  • Strong grasp of IT infrastructure and application development technology and architectures.
  • Strong grasp of Linux administration, including Linux patching.
  • Knowledge of assessment and analytical processes and practices.
  • Skill in strategic planning.
  • Skill in researching, compiling, and analyzing data to report findings and develop improvement solutions.
  • Skill in system administration and hosting across a wide range of solutions.
  • Ability to research, identify, and implement innovative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 – 3 years of strong professional experience in Microsoft Azure cloud systems is highly desired.
  • 2 – 3 years of experience with other cloud providers, such as AWS or GCP is highly desired.
  • 2 – 3 years of professional experience in the administration of Microsoft software is highly desired.
  • 3 – 5 years of professional experience supporting middleware such as API Management, IT Service Automation tools, and batch job services is highly desired.

Education:

  • 3 – 5 years of professional experience supporting middleware such as API Management, IT Service Automation tools, and batch job services is highly desired.
