Description:

The ASC Radiology Technician performs radiographic, fluoroscopic, and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. An individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and position patient for diagnostic imaging procedures, explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties as needed
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
  • Move imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images accurately. Operate mobile equipment in operating room at bedside
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including fluoroscopy during surgery and procedures
  • Assist physician in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
  • Measure and mix contrast media
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year direct experience
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) Certification
  • Licensed in the state of Tennessee as a Medical X-ray Operator

PREFERRED

  • 3 years' experience with fluoroscopy including neurosurgery (or equivalent) and pain procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word), electronic medical records (EMR) and medical practice software
  • Ability to respond promptly to patient needs and requests for service and assistance
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of safety and security procedures with the ability to identify and report potentially unsafe conditions, equipment and materials
  • Establishes positive working relationships among team members
  • Can accept suggestions and recommendations
