The ASC Radiology Technician performs radiographic, fluoroscopic, and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and position patient for diagnostic imaging procedures, explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties as needed
Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
Move imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images accurately. Operate mobile equipment in operating room at bedside
Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including fluoroscopy during surgery and procedures
Assist physician in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
Measure and mix contrast media
Process images and review for proper identification and quality control
Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent
One (1) year direct experience
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) Certification
Licensed in the state of Tennessee as a Medical X-ray Operator
PREFERRED
3 years' experience with fluoroscopy including neurosurgery (or equivalent) and pain procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word), electronic medical records (EMR) and medical practice software
Ability to respond promptly to patient needs and requests for service and assistance
High level of confidentiality and discretion
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
Excellent organizational skills
Strong knowledge of safety and security procedures with the ability to identify and report potentially unsafe conditions, equipment and materials
Establishes positive working relationships among team members
Can accept suggestions and recommendations
