The safety engineer is a member of the safety team that provides tactical safety support to field operations to ensure compliance with company policy, client requirements, government regulations, and state/local laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with the development and implementation of safety programs and proceduresEnsures manuals, policies, and procedures are in place and in adherence to regulations and company expectationsExecutes the safety vision and plan for the company and mentors the staff and employees in achieving that visionConducts or coordinates employee training in areas of safety, regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipmentDevelops and assures adherence to site-specific Safety PlansLeads and documents appropriate risk/hazard assessmentsConducts corresponding follow-ups and implementation of corrective action items to minimize and/or eliminate incidents that have the potential to cause harm to one of the Company's employees, contractors, or visitorsEffectively communicates the health and safety goals, objectives, performance expectations, and metrics throughout the facilityPerforms and administers safety audits and inspects job sites, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation complianceAnalysis and utilizes data to set safety priorities and develop action plansDocument and investigate all incidents involving property damage, personal injury, safety violations, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Participates in auditing site safety and health programs to identify areas that require attention.Full knowledge and understanding of all local, state, and federal OSHA requirements as well as MYCON requirementsAccompany OSHA compliance officers and insurance inspectors during on-site auditsPrepare and update site-specific safety policy, including project emergency action procedures, work assignments, pre-task planning, personnel administration, and training for an emergency contingency planEvaluate subcontractor qualifications, training programs, and competencyDocument and investigate all incidents involving property damage, personal injury, safety violations, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance activities.Accompany OSHA compliance officers and insurance inspectors during on-site auditsPerform job site inspections through safety management softwareAssist incident investigation teams and ensure that incident reports are thorough, complete, and root causes corrective actions, and lessons learned have been determinedProvide monthly safety program summary report as requiredAssist with companywide assessment and development of Safety Programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Required education and skills needed but not limited to the following:
Demonstrated 5+ years experience in a safety position preferred or equivalent education and experienceHigh school diploma or equivalentValid drivers licenseA minimum of OSHA 30-hour training, First Aid/CPR/BBP, and AED trainingCandidate must have documented training in the following:

OSHA 500Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of applicable occupational safety and health regulationsAchievement of CHST is required within two years of appointment to this positionDemonstrated management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing and train othersExcellent interpersonal skills, strong teaching, coaching, facilitation, and mentoring skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ProCoreExcellent problem-solving and investigation skills with a focus on root cause analysis and the development of sustainable corrective actions

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the listed functions of this job. The work environment is an office and occasionally a job site with exposure to outdoor elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud and frequently requires the use of personal protective equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock.
