Job Title:Student Manager (Summer Internship), Student Life Events and ConferencesDepartment:Student Life | Housing Administration-JM

The Student Manager (Summer) will be considered a part of the Events and Conferences Leadership Team. They will dual report to the Assistant Director of Sales and The Business Development and Operations Manager for Student Life Events and Conferences.




Summer Conference Management




  • The SM will help supervise our team of Summer Conference Assistants




  • The SM will learn about and help manage the full cycle of a Summer Conference including sale, detailing, preparation, and execution of the event




  • The SM will learn the basics of housing administration management for Summer Conferences




  • The SM will demonstrate adherence to the mission of Events and Conferences and the values of the Office of Student Life and The Ohio State University




  • The SM will participate in the Student Manager on-call rotation for Student Life Events and Conferences





Student Life Events and Conferences Sales and Marketing




  • The SM will build relationships across the Office of Student Life and collaborate with partners to deliver an outstanding experience for clients




  • The SM will develop a thorough understanding of all the partnerships involved in a successful fully integrated Event Management Operation




  • The SM will work on special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of Sales




  • The SM may support work of the full-time Event Coordinators in the Office of Student Life Events and Conferences






  • THE SM will interact with Student Life Events and Conferences Customers through all communication channels and will




    • Answer emails and phone calls promptly and professionally




    • Be present for some Summer Conference check ins and check outs to ensure smooth operation







Qualifications:



Minimum:




  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills




  • A high level of interest in event/hospitality management




  • A high level of organization




  • Effective written and verbal communication skills






  • A willingness to learn and adapt




  • An ability to take initiative




  • An ability to work independently






Preferred:




  • Prior experience with customer service




  • Enrollment in an event management or hospitality management degree program
