Engineering Technician
Position
Summary
The Engineering Technician, reporting directly to the Project Manager,
will utilize computer aided design drafting software (AutoCAD) together with
skills in planning, designing, and drafting plans for water transmission and
distribution systems and wastewater utility systems.
Specific
Responsibilities
Prepares civil engineering drawings using Autodesk and AutoCAD
software for water and wastewater systems
Calculates dimensions, square footage, slopes, profile
elevations, and quantities for use in project plans and estimates
Prepares paperwork for quotes and bids; meets with contractors
in field with the project engineer to monitor construction and discuss
quotes or bids
Develops topographic survey data into survey mapping to be
utilized in plan design, compiles detailed construction drawings utilizing
engineer's sketches and instructions, municipal specifications and design
criteria, and corrects the plans once red-lined by the engineers
Drafts as-built drawings utilizing original construction
drawing files and survey data; prepares final drawings for printing and
records
Responsible for keeping record drawings properly organized and
filed or archived
Performs on-site field inspections as needed
Reviews engineering plans to ensure compliance with utility standards
Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in AutoCAD map or, Civil 3D or Microstation drafting
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and specialized drafting software used by the organization
Required
Education and Experience
Two years of CAD drafting work experience related to water systems and facilities Civil Engineering
Experience in Civil Engineering related areas
Valid Texas driver's license and satisfactory driving record
