Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced QC MEP Lead to manage and oversee the quality control processes for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems in heavy civil construction projects. The QC MEP Lead will be responsible for ensuring that all MEP work meets the project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role will collaborate with the construction team, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the construction process. Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control Oversight: Lead and manage the quality control activities for all MEP-related aspects of the heavy civil construction project, including design reviews, installation processes, testing, and commissioning of systems.
Inspection & Testing: Conduct inspections and testing of MEP installations, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and other mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with the project specifications and regulatory standards.
Documentation: Prepare, maintain, and submit detailed quality control documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action reports (CARs). Ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted to the project team and regulatory authorities.
Coordination with Subcontractors: Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the quality of materials and installations meet the required specifications. Provide guidance to subcontractors on quality control requirements and industry standards.
Deficiency Management: Identify any deficiencies or quality issues in the MEP work and oversee the corrective actions necessary to resolve them. Track and document the progress of corrective actions.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards, including safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Collaboration: Work closely with the project manager, construction superintendent, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with other construction activities.
Training & Mentoring: Provide training and guidance to junior QC staff and subcontractors regarding quality control procedures, industry standards, and MEP system requirements.
Audits & Inspections: Lead internal quality audits and inspections to verify compliance with specifications and to assess the effectiveness of the quality control system.
Project Reporting: Provide regular reports on the status of quality control activities to project management, including tracking of quality metrics, inspections, NCRs, and resolution status.
Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for quality failures or deficiencies and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Control (QC) for MEP systems in heavy civil construction projects, with a strong understanding of MEP design and installation processes.
Education: A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Certifications:
Quality Control certifications (e.g., ASQ CQI, ISO 9001).
OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training.
MEP-related certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) are a plus.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of MEP systems, quality control processes, and industry standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Proficiency in quality control software, Microsoft Office, and project management tools.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret MEP blueprints, specifications, and drawings.
Experience with Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
