Job Summary
The Sr Reservoir Engineer - Onshore will be responsible for reservoir management of unconventional assets with broad responsibilities in the areas of development, reserves, surveillance, and optimization. The position will focus primarily on Eagle Ford Shale assets and work closely with stakeholders to develop, frame, support, and implement initiatives to understand resource potential and to optimize future development through teamwork and robust technical analyses.
The Sr Reservoir Engineer - Onshore will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
Utilize DCA and RTA/PTA techniques to evaluate and forecast well performance
Conduct the required surveillance, technical reviews, data collection, execution planning, econ analysis, AFEs, PSA proposals, and offset competitor analysis required to optimize assets
Work with the asset team to organize subsurface data sets including seismic, petrophysical and reservoir engineering data, geo-mechanical data, completions, and production data to facilitate usage by stakeholders in interpretation, evaluation, and predictive applications
Work with multidisciplinary teams to understand how well spacing/stacking/landing pattern optimization impacts depletion effects, reserves bookings, development decisions, etc.
Integrate field development and business plan assumptions into reserves updates.
Prepare forecasts for PDP locations, undeveloped location bookings, and associated documentation for annual reserves process.
Perform rollups of reserves bookings and identify key drivers for volume changes.
QA/QC of economic and technical assumptions for asset reserves bookings. Work with reserves analysts to implement assumptions efficiently and accurately into reserves database.
Support documentation needs for investment opportunity management and financial approvals
Champion or support technical projects/studies which enhance ongoing asset development and production optimization on an as needed basis
Conduct technical reviews and asset valuations for both operated positions and business development opportunities to maximize economic value
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years of petroleum engineering experience and 3 years unconventional reservoir engineering
Data science proficiency with SQL, Python, R, Spotfire, PowerBI, and/or similar tools
Proficient in economic and plannings analysis software, i.e.: Aries, ValNav or Enersight
Experience with asset valuations, acquisitions, trades, or divestitures
Experience with technical studies, simulations, or trials in:
Well spacing and lateral length type curve adjustments
Parent/child well production impacts
Well completions optimization
Flowback optimization and analysis
Demonstrated communication, teamwork, and project management skills
Successful track record in the fast-paced environment of an active operated asset
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
