Key Accountabilities:
Adjust and align tools and modify systems on pre-set equipment according to machining specifications.
Set and change specialty and standard tools in machining centers (i.e., MAPAL Padded Reamers from single diameter to multi-diameter, and standard tooling systems)
Assemble and reassemble new tools, re-worked tools and prototype tools for tool crib operations.
Access tooling re-work capability based on tooling attributes and machining requirements.
Verify quality of tooling by inspecting, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them
Develop and recommend best practices and methods for improving accuracy, efficiency and speed of tooling, machining and inventory control systems, processes, and procedures.
Perform root cause analysis of inventory (supplies and tooling) inaccuracies and follow standard practices and guidelines for issue resolution.
Define, map, and maintain inventory control procedures per ISO 9000 standards using tool management software.
Assist MTU in analyzing tool consumption, performing tests on potential new tools, and creating detailed management reports.
Assist in the sale of scrap tooling that has a potential market value.
Provide training on tool setting, demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new and existing employees.
Advise operators of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with tooling equipment and components
Keep Team Leader abreast of progress, developments and pending problems.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Identify and reduce non-value-added work.
Perform special projects as may be required and maintain on the job flexibility by providing support in assembly and other production related areas.
Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.
Basic Requirements:
Completion of apprenticeship or training program or 3 years previous experience in mechanical, electrical or industrial tooling management in a heavy-duty machining environment
Basic knowledge in a variety of machines and tools such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, taps or dies and hoists; including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Basic knowledge of inventory control systems, manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
Intermediate mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, carpentry, lubrications, and repair of production machines.
Basic ability to interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids.
Basic problem-solving skills and the analytical ability to complete very complex problems.
Basic knowledge and experience with Siemens 840D CNC machine tool control, Modicon, Allen Bradley, RS Logic 500 & 5000 and CNC programming applications
Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
Intermediate knowledge in skills such as welding, pipe fitting, lubrications, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, carpentry and use of tool room machines
Basic interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers and other tradesmen.
Basic organizational, planning and follow-up skills.
Basic oral and written communication skills
Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.
Ability to work off-shift and overtime as required. This position is scheduled for the off shift which starts at 7:45pm and ends at 6:15am, Monday through Thursday. Initial training will occur on 1st shift from 5:45am to 4:15pm, Monday through Thursday until training is complete.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance
Knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engine manufacturing
Ability to obtain appropriate hoists and power vehicle licenses (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, & Mule) when necessary
Knowledge of MTU products, policies, and procedures
