The Cincinnati Children's Hospital Infectious Diseases Division seeks an MD or MD-PhD faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor level to fill the position in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Gamble Vaccine Research Unit (VRC).
The successful candidate will co-lead a nationally recognized program specializing in vaccination and clinical trials supported through the Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU) and the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Consortium (IDCRC) funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The ideal candidate will spend the majority of their effort co-leading research in vaccines and vaccinology. The ideal candidate will oversee clinical and data operations, lead analyses and disseminate research findings to advance knowledge of pediatric infectious disease and vaccine safety. This candidate will engage with collaborators at CCHMC and at outside institutions and seek out additional projects and funding sources to expand the program. The successful candidate will have opportunities to mentor MPH and PhD students, residents, infectious disease fellows and junior faculty to assist them in pursuing their individual career goals.
The amount of clinical effort for this position is 10% for MD candidates, depending upon the individual strengths and career plans of the candidate. MD applicants must be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric infectious diseases.
CCHMC is a vibrant academic medical center and one of the top children's hospitals in the world, with 670 beds and operations of >$2.3 billion annually. The Infectious Diseases Division has existing strengths in many areas of basic and clinical research; including in viral pathogenesis, host-microbe interactions, mechanisms of inflammation and tolerance, vaccine development and clinical trials, transplant/immunocompromised infectious diseases, infectious diseases epidemiology and surveillance, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship.
