SUMMARY


Bering Straits Native Corporation is a dynamic organization dedicated to empowering our workforce and fostering strong business partnerships. BSNC is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Recruiter to join our team and play a key role in attracting top talent. The Recruiter position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by working with managers within Bering Straits and their subsidiaries to post job vacancies, screen candidates, develop interview questions, assist with interviews, and assist the Business Partners in the onboarding process. Customers consist of a diversified workforce of Executive Staff, union, Service Contract Act, Davis Bacon Act, hourly, and exempt employees. This position is critical in ensuring that BSNC and its subsidiaries have the best candidates to meet business needs while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.

As a Recruiter, you will work closely with hiring managers across BSNC and its subsidiaries to source, screen, and secure top talent. You will be responsible for managing the recruitment process from job posting to onboarding, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while providing outstanding candidate experience.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop tailored recruitment strategies.
  • Proactively source candidates using job boards, social media, networking and employee referrals.
  • Follow Company applicant tracking and requisition procedures; ensure applicant tracking system and associated processes are up-to-date and recruitment files are maintained with all essential pieces.
  • Coordinate with the Shareholder Department to identify shareholder or descendant candidates that may qualify for open positions; reach out to determine interest.
  • Recruiter will provide technical assistance to both applicants as well as hiring managers as technical concerns arise along the recruiting process.
  • Attend local job fairs to help promote company brand and speak about careers with BSNC.
  • Screen applications, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate interview processes with hiring managers, as necessary.
  • Understands hiring processes to ensure adherence to all equal employment opportunities (EEO) legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other government compliance requirements.
  • Maintain strong communication with candidates, ensuring a smooth hiring experience.
  • Communicate the "Internal Hire" policy that employees can apply for any position for which they feel qualified.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in recruitment.
  • Provide guidance on wage and compliance-related hiring matters, ensuring adherence to labor laws.


QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO's)

  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws/regulations and familiarity with I-9, background check, wage and hour, EEO, AAP, OFCCP, and other compliance processes that impact recruiting
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR information systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues independently - solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment.
  • Effective presentation skills to interface with various levels of management.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of the recruitment processes (job postings, job boards, candidate screening and selection, interviewing, etc.), best practices, and state, federal, and OFCCP compliance and ability to perform related tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills - ability to interface with all levels of the organization, specific strength in influencing decision makers as well as setting and managing expectations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and confidentially process and maintain data with accuracy with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to multi-task and be proactive in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads.
  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas.
  • Strong decision analysis, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Bering Straits' goals.


Preferred

  • PHR/SPHR/GPHR or SHRM CP/SCP is highly desirable.
  • Graduate degree in HR or a related field.
  • Prior EEO & AAP experience.
  • Deltek Costpoint/UKG Human Resources Information System experience.
  • Experience in government contracting or working with an Alaska Native Corporation.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS


As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
