Job Title: Full-Time Accompanist - Departments of Dance and Music

Job Summary:

The Departments of Dance and Music invite applications for a full-time accompanist (9 months per year) to support our dynamic programs. This is a three-year, renewable position shared by two distinct departments; we require a versatile and skilled collaborative pianist who can accompany dance classes, music ensembles, and individual students while fostering a collaborative and educational environment in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. 

Start Date: September 1, 2025 

Application Deadline: Priority will be given to applications received by March 30,2025 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with individual vocal and instrumental students in lessons, rehearsals, and performances.
• Accompany dance classes across various disciplines, including ballet and modern dance.
• Accompany choral ensembles and interpret choral scores in weekly rehearsals and concerts 
• Collaborate with faculty and students in both departments to enhance musical and dance performances.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists in lessons and performances.
• Proficiency in accompanying dance classes across multiple styles.
• Experience accompanying choral ensembles under the direction of a conductor.
• Flexibility in work schedule, including evening and weekend hours 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent sight-reading skills.
• Strong improvisation skills.
• Flexibility and versatility in repertoire across different musical genres and time periods.
• Experience working with students of all levels in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.
• Experience and/or interest in integrating technology into one's musical practice.

Salary: $58,000 plus comprehensive benefits.

All bargaining unit members shall be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Skidmore College and Services Employees International Union, Local 200United.
