We have an exciting hybrid opportunity open for a Director of Finance/Assistant Treasurer based in our Centennial, CO office.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Finance / Assistant Treasurer to join our dynamic finance team. The Director of Finance / Assistant Treasurer will help develop and oversee working capital management strategies, treasury operations, policies, and budgets for the Treasury function. This role will also be responsible for supporting the Corporate Treasurer in managing the company’s financial activities, including cash management, risk management, debt compliance, and financial planning. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. The Director of Finance / Assistant Treasurer will provide guidance, direction, and tactical oversight to ensure efficient use of financial resources. As an integral part of the finance team, this person will develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, rating agencies, actuaries, and other institutions to further the Company’s strategy.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Treasurer and oversee Treasury strategies, operations, policies, and budgets that support the Company’s strategic initiatives. The function includes responsibility for managing corporate liquidity, capital markets, banking and rating agency relationships, interest rate management, debt covenant compliance, benefits finance and investments, shareholder relationships, and department budgeting / forecasting and regulatory activities.
    1. Implement short and long-term financing strategies to meet the organization’s liquidity needs. Oversee execution of approved financing plans.
    2. Manage corporate capital structure and cash forecasting. Ensure organization maintains a strong balance sheet, a solid investment grade credit rating and sufficient liquidity to support the Company’s operations.
    3. Negotiate terms and fees for debt and equity financing with banks and other institutions including credit facilities and public and private financing arrangements.
    4. Maintain strong relationships with banks and rating agencies to meet financing objectives.
    5. Ensure ongoing compliance with key debt covenants.
    6. Responsible for Treasury related budgeting and forecasting assumptions and financial results.
    7. Provide strategic vision for Treasury regulatory activities including capital structure, cost of capital and benefits.
    8. Provide support and testimony to Regulatory for rate cases regarding debt-to-equity structure and expected rates of return.
  • Maintain strong understanding of GAAP and FERC accounting requirements related to Treasury functions. Review and validate financial statements to ensure accuracy of Treasury related financial reporting data.
  • Develop and maintain measurable metrics to ensure department and organizational objectives are met.
  • Present to Company’s Board of Directors and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors on Treasury related topics, as may be needed.
  • Oversee the design and adherence of internal controls to safeguard corporate assets and the financial integrity of Treasury’s business processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the treasury team and ensure all tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • Focus on each team members’ professional development by providing growth opportunities that meet the company’s needs and the career goals of the individual.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of energy industry, as well as accounting regulatory practices that may impact Summit.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with peers, senior management and other leaders throughout the company.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, rating agencies, actuaries, and other third-party institutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in treasury, capital markets or other relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, economics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Previous experience working in accounting or financial planning and analysis is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Experience executing capital market transactions.
  • Expert level knowledge working with MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Working knowledge of treasury cash management products and treasury workstations.
  • Strong grasp of key factors that drive financial results of energy and utility companies.
  • Strong negotiations skills are a must.
  • Deadline driven with a results-oriented focus.
  • Positively influence through effective oral and written communication. Act as an ambassador to and expert for banks, rating agencies, and the broader financial community regarding the company and industry.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial concepts to financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Salary based on experience $143K to $205K USD Annually
