The Nebraska State Historical Society is seeking a passionate and organized leader to head up its statewide education team. The Curator of Education will play a critical role in all phases of the program development process, including concept generation, design, content, delivery, evaluation, and promotion. As a key member of the museum team, the Curator of Education will work collaboratively to generate an innovative, dynamic, and creative statewide approach to audience engagement.


The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Job duties



- Work closely with the museum director to develop a long-term education strategy and short-term goals.


- Manage all of NSHS's educational programming, including curriculum-based school programs and public programs like lectures, events, workshops, camps, and tours at all of NSHS sites. This includes both in-person visitation and digital programming. Oversee administration functions including programming budget, promotion, and partnership building.


- Work as a collaborative partner in a team-oriented culture, sharing responsibilities with staff across the organizational structure.


- Develop, implement, and track metrics to measure, evaluate, interpret, and analyze the effectiveness and outcomes of education programs, with a focus on continuous improvement.


- Lead and manage Education staff, student workers, and volunteers, including setting expectations and priorities, delegating, and ongoing performance management.


- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.



Requirements / Qualifications
:




Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in History or closely related field such as: Education, Museum Studies, Geography, or Anthropology AND two years of experience in museum curatorial work, developing and/or providing educational programs to K-12 students, or providing interpretive tours.



Preferred: Education, history, or public history background and familiarity with state and/or national education standards.



Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.


Regular and reliable attendance is required.
