Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person administers and supports processes for the fulfillment of American Family Physician subscriptions, and the marketing/subscription sales of American Family Physician (AFP), FP Essentials & Family Practice Management (FPM) to achieve non-dues revenue goals. This position provides email back-up to the divisions electronic table of content (eTOC) and newsletter specialist, as well as customer care to all Journal Media segments, its subscriber customers, and the Academy’s members. The position supports the department manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Subscription management: Ensures that the AFP journal goes to the correct audience each month by executing the print order process working with our internal membership contact, our external partners, the database vendor and the printer and USPS as needed.
  • Email marketing strategy development, planning and execution in support of Subscription Revenue: Goal: increase and retain print and online subscriptions to drive subscription revenue. Responsible for strategizing ideas & new tactics to increase sales, collaborates with manager on developing an annual plan for journals focusing on testing, to increase paid subscriptions.
  • Budgeting, cost control and Compliance (postal, Alliance for Audited Media (AAM) audit & auto-renewal): In conjunction with manager develops the annual budget for American Family Physician and manages to both expense and revenue goals through the cycle. Ensures compliance in required areas and maintains all documentation necessary.
  • Keeps up-to-date on auto-renewal compliance and works with legal to make changes as necessary for compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6-10 years’ work experience
  • Working knowledge of premise of database management, email marketing platforms and reporting tools.
  • Strategic thinking & planning with the ability to analyze results/reporting and recommend changes, tests or pilots in subscription marketing to ensure success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, accuracy, attention to detail, an analytical thinker with advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong organizational & time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set & meet deadlines.
