SGS North America Inc. ("SGS") is part of a world-wide group of organizations that specializes in testing, inspection, auditing, and certification services and has offices and laboratories all over the USA. Our SGS in-house legal department, who support all our USA and Canada locations, is looking for a motivated intern for the summer of 2025. The SGS legal department provides support services across a variety of legal functions such as contracts, litigation, labor and employment, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property. For this position SGS is looking for a law student who is interested in pursuing a career in-house or looking to learn more about working in an in-house environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Learn about the company, including the different lines of business
Research and drafting memos regarding developing legal issues
Assistance with responding to subpoenas and document responses
Assisting paralegals with various tasks as necessary
Take part in and takes note on meetings with the internal business and project teams and outside counsel
Assist with review and assessment of contracts
Shadowing members of the legal department in performing their roles
Qualifications
Internship Details:
Full-time
A few days a week in our offices in Bloomfield, New Jersey (SGS corporate headquarters)
$25/hr
Approximately the end of May until August (10-week minimum commitment)
Intern Qualifications / Skills:
Law student between 1L and graduation
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize
Professionalism
Proficiency in Word, Adobe, and Westlaw
