The University of Richmond invites applications for one full-time tenure-track position in Health Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2025.
The Department of Health Studies (https://hs.richmond.edu/) is a vibrant and growing unit that equips students with theoretical and empirical frameworks for understanding the social, cultural, environmental, biological, psychological, ethical, economic, legal, and policy contexts that shape individual and population health. We welcome applicants from specific public health disciplines, namely epidemiology, global health, and environmental health. A doctoral degree in one of these areas must be completed prior to the start date.
Applicants should apply online at http://jobs.richmond.edu and upload a CV, a brief cover letter, a teaching statement, and a research statement. The teaching statement should name the core and elective courses the applicant is interested in teaching and developing, describe any teaching experience or training, articulate the applicant's teaching philosophy and strategies for teaching effectiveness, and express the applicant's involvement in and commitment to inclusive pedagogy. The research statement should describe the applicant's research area(s) and plans, including plans for meaningfully involving undergraduate students in research. Applicants will also be asked to provide the names and contact information for three references who may be asked, at a later date, to submit letters of recommendation. Review of applications will commence on March 17, 2025, and continue until the position is filled. Please address any questions about the position to department chair Dr. Rick Mayes (bmayes@richmond.edu).
