JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Enterprise Information Technology Team, an IT FP&A Analyst will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial reporting, ensuring that IT investments align with our business objectives. They will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the financial aspects of our Information Technology department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Collaboratively assist in the development and management of the annual budget for the IT department, including hardware, software, personnel, accruals and other IT-related expenses.
  • In collaboration with enterprise finance partners, support all annual, quarterly and monthly budgeting and forecasting processes to enable Portfolio-level decision making and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with IT procurement and enterprise finance teams to track, review, and manage all IT vendor and software invoices.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of invoices, reconcile them with purchase orders and contracts, and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and analyze IT expenditures, identifying variances and providing explanations to management.
  • Identify and analyze trends in IT spending and performance metrics, providing insights to inform decision-making.
  • Create long-term financial forecasts for the IT department to support strategic planning.
  • Prepare regular financial reports for IT stakeholders, including executives and department heads.
  • Oversee investment governance, working with EPMO, enterprise finance partners, cloud FinOps, and the Empyrean IT Leadership to highlight issues, provide project cost tracking as well as planning guidance with the finance team and ensure projects remain in governance across the directorate.
  • Assist in the preparation of business cases for IT projects, outlining financial benefits and risks.
  • Calculate ROI for IT projects and investments, assisting in project prioritization.
  • Analyze the cost of IT projects, services, and initiatives, and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to develop strategies for reducing costs while maintaining or improving service quality.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to maintain an inventory of IT assets and track their depreciation over time.
  • Allocate IT expenses to various departments or business units based on usage or agreed-upon allocation methodologies.
  • Ensure IT financial practices and expenditures comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by IT leadership or finance teams.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Some knowledge of IT asset management and cost optimization practices.
  • Some knowledge of IT accounts payable and invoice management practices.
  • Intermediate experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in an IT or Technology related role.
  • Intermediate proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Finance and Accounting practices and procedures.

    • GAAP, IFRS
    • FASB
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with specific experience in Executive Presentation.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a multi-tasking environment.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred but not required

    • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, equivalent years of experience in general corporate finance, accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), or a similar related field
  • Overall, 2-4 years' experience in related areas of work
  • 2-3 years of experience in the following areas:

    • IT Financial Cost Analysis and Forecasting
    • IT Budget Modeling and Forecasting
    • IT Project Cost Modeling
  • Prior experience in benefit program administration; knowledge of Health and Welfare processes a plus
  • Prior experience in Internal Audit, Finance Operations, or Project Management a plus
  • Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, certificates, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
