Summary:
Under supervision of the Chief Physicist, performs periodic calibration, monitoring, and safety evaluation of all radiation producing or ancillary equipment as well as the calculation of all patient dosimetry.
Responsibilities:
Performs and monitors imaging/treatment equipment testing and calibration. Develops and implements appropriate shielding designs, frequent surveys, and routine exposure monitoring.Implements, assists with and monitors the organization's radiation safety program and ensures the program's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Performs treatment planning and assists with staff development.Collaborates with dosimetrist and radiation oncologist to develop radiation therapy treatment plans. Develops and monitors protocols and policies to ensure accurate patient dosimetry.

Education and Certification Requirements:
Masters (Required)ABMP Qualified Medical Physicist-Therapeutic (QMP ABMP) - American Board for Medical Physics (ABMP), ABR Qualified Medical Physicist-Therapeutic (QMP ABR) - American Board of Radiology (ABR), Therapeutic Radiological Physicist (TRP LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Additional Job Information:
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a medical physicist or graduate of a Medical Physics Residency program. Other Information: Additional Education Info: Master's degree in either Physics or Medical Physics.Additional Credential Info: Can be accredited by The American Board of Radiology (ABR) or by The American Board for Medical Physics (ABMP); if graduated from a Medical Physics Residency program and not ABR certified yet, ABR board exam eligibility is required.
