Job Description
The Water Resources Specialist is responsible for the development and
maintenance of the Company's water resources by overseeing new source
installation; monitoring pump and well efficiencies, and coordinating
redevelopment and pump/motor replacement and repair work; preparing required
applications for permits or approvals for assigned projects; overseeing Level A
Mapping and assisting with Diversion Permit Programs; assisting with water
supply planning process; and overseeing and coordinating with the state on
sanitary surveys for all company-owned systems.
Responsible
for source development and maintenance in all regions, including
alternative assessments, support in the preparation of plans and
specifications, obtaining state and
local permits and approvals, and coordinating work.
Assists
with the timely preparation of emergency contingency and water
conservation plans, and other routine planning document updates, related
to Company facilities or other infrastructure needs.
Oversees
the Company's Dam Maintenance and Inspection Programs, providing support
to local resources for monthly, semi-annual and annual inspections as well
as coordinating external resources to ensure State and Federal compliance
of all registered dams and impoundments including the review and
submission of reports and other documents to regulatory authorities.
Oversees
all activities related to state-mandated sanitary surveys of company-owned
water systems, including coordinating state inspections and overseeing
response actions necessary to address deficiencies and maintain compliance
with applicable regulatory programs.
Coordinates
activities required to bring the Company into compliance with the state's
Level A Mapping Program and recently enacted streamflow regulations.
Assists
with CapEx and OpEx budget preparation, forecasting and
capital planning.
Supports
the Company's Spill Response Program by assisting with the administration
of the annual review, facility inspections and local training.
Performs
other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field required
5 years' experience in relevant water treatment & distribution operations required
Water Treatment & Distribution certification(s) preferred
Must have strong knowledge of Water Treatment & Distribution systems
Must understand basic engineering principles and practices to apply sound logic and critical thinking as it relates to decision making
Must have knowledge of or possess the ability to understand all relevant Local, State and Federal Regulations, Technical Guidance and Compliance Documents
Must be capable of working independently and possess the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
