JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary purpose:

Responsible for the project execution and providing technical/field expertise of corrosion control, remediations of pipeline integrity, new construction, recoating projects and atmospheric projects. Abrasive blasting, Coating Pipelines, Painting pipelines, Valve Sets, Town Boarder Stations, Pipe Spans, Install FRPs and other general coating related practices. Installing new pipe supports and or concrete foundations. To work directly with supervisors and responsible for direct execution of work in compliance with Tallgrass, Federal, state, and local requirements.

The initial concept of this position is to provide priority remedial services of the atmospheric corrosion plans each year directed from Supervisors and Coordinators.Minimum requirements:

Education:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one (1) year direct work experience in crude oil/gas pipeline system corrosion operations may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • A minimum of one (1) year working experience with corrosion operations of crude oil/gas pipeline systems or other equivalent experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year working experience in project execution in relating to corrosion projects or other equivalent experience.
  • Experience in atmospheric coating remediations, per industry standards
  • Experience in all coating preparation techniques "Hand, Power tool, abrasive blast" and equipment's to be used.
  • Experience in all coating application techniques by the means of hand, roll or Conventional, airless spray applied.

Preferred Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Experience in basic mechanical components and field troubleshooting of equipment. "Abrasive blasting and Painting Equipment"
  • Experience in all phases of corrosion control and pipeline integrity measures
  • Knowledge and experience in operation of pipeline, measurement, pump stations, compression, and all related equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of crude oil, flammable gases, liquids and high- and low-pressure systems.
  • Entry proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Required Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Preferred Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

(Successful candidate must be able to pass the following training after hire, if not already completed.)


  • NACE/AMPP CIP LV 1 Training and Certifications
  • NACE/AMPP C7/C12 Training and Certifications
  • NCCER Painting Modules LV 1-4
  • NCCER Industrial Coatings Applicator Modules LV1-4

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion coating systems.
  • Working knowledge of or ability to learn NACE and SSPC standards.
  • Good record of safe work practices.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects.
  • Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline operations, project management, risk engineering principals and DOT 192 regulations.
  • Knowledge of company policies and DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with safe handling practices of products (gas and liquids).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead towards operational excellence.
  • Strong customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations and other internal and external groups.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to execute the successful performance of multiple tasks with strict deadlines and others within direct report.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work and others in direct report.
  • Apply coatings through conventional, airless and hand applications.
  • Knowledge of various sand blasting "Dry systems" and painting equipment system "Single and Plural Component"
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.

Working Conditions:

  • Extended overnight travel will be required.

  • NACE Certification (CP1, Blaster/Painter) AMP C7/C12
  • NCCER Certification (Blaster/Painter Applicator
  • Denso Applicator Training "Hand applied and Spray"
  • Strong working knowledge of pipeline and corrosion attributes with ability to problem solve.
  • Strong working knowledge of coating preparation and application by all means of industry standards
  • Relocation to designated region may be required

Other responsibilities:
The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Corrosion Team and Asset Integrity Engineers with office and field project executions, per company and other industry standards.
  • Ability to work directly with supervisor, coordinators in testing and implement corrective action through corrosion and maintenance activities.
  • Assist the supervisors, coordinators, and corrosion technicians with coating related projects throughout the Tallgrass Pipeline System.
  • Plan and execute in priority order the corrosion control projects and installation of protective measures pertaining to coating related projects.
  • Work with regulatory, environmental, right-of-way, procurement, corrosion technicians and contracted services to complete coating related projects.
  • Maintain required records, including job books, pipeline inspection reports pertaining to coating related projects.
  • Develop and maintain atmospheric program to include prioritizing atmospheric inspection remediations and aid in overseeing projects.
  • Assist field personnel with the evaluation, development, implementation, and maintenance of facility grounding systems.
  • Assist integrity with ILI prove up digs of coating remedial actions, when needed.
  • Attend operations monthly safety meetings.
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural spray systems.
  • Apply coatings with brush and roll.
  • Operate various types of equipment, such as blasting pots, sprays equipment, and other power tools for surface preparation.
  • Mix coatings to desired colors and consistencies, per manufactures recommendations.
  • Demonstrate and enforce the highest professional integrity, ethics, and safety discipline.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce a culture of regulatory compliance.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
