The Southington Plant Controller will be accountable for establishing and maintaining an integrated plan of operation consistent with corporate and plant goals and objectives on a short- and long-term basis. Develop and revise product cost standards to accurately measure the impact on operations. Prepare, analyze and interpret financial results for utilization by management in the decision-making process. Prepare and file external reports to satisfy corporate and plant requirements. Design, establish and maintain general and cost accounting systems to properly record all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and SOX policies. Manage and supervise the financial aspects of such functions (but not limited to) as standard costing, variance analysis, accounts payables, financial reporting, internal audits, local payroll systems, tracking cost reduction program, and fixed asset accounting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide a system of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure the accuracy and reliability of accounting data, promote operational efficiency and ensure adherence to established corporate policies and procedures.
Coordinate the development, evaluation, presentation and control of the Long-Range Plans, Annual Plans (AOP) and Quarterly Forecasts. Ensure that they represent the objectives of management.
Ensure that the specific ledgers, records and books of accounts are maintained in a manner that satisfies company and governmental requirements and are in conformance with Corporate Policies and generally accepted accounting principles. Ensure that monthly financial statements are accurate and timely.
Assure that the necessary systems and procedures are available to control, facilitate evaluation and provide justification for the disbursement of funds.
Provide systems that properly and effectively record, analyze, safeguard, report and utilize material, labor and services received for the disbursement of funds.
Maintain a manufacturing cost system that provides accurate and timely quantitative data relative to progress against budgets and standards and provides accurate balance sheet valuation and income determination.
Provide to all functional support groups financial guidance related to operating budgets and financial reports.
Provide evaluation of all capital expenditures requests and a method for monitoring, controlling and recording capital expenditures.
Act as liaison between the business unit and Corporate Office for activities related to risk management, treasury, legal, tax, controller, management systems, internal audit and external audit, etc.
Hire, train and develop personnel as required to attain these objectives.
Ensure compliance by the plant according to SOX policies, GAAP, purchasing policies, and local policies and procedures. Ensure information systems compliance through local and corporate policies. Support internal and external audits.
Responsible for developing, reviewing and communicating budget and actual results for manufacturing. Daily, Weekly, Monthly reporting on Variance Analysis to Standard Costing.
Support Worldwide Standard Cost setting.
Other Special Projects as they arise.
Knowledge & Skills
Extensive background in all areas of manufacturing accounting, specifically in cost, planning and analysis and automated manufacturing systems.
Specific hands-on experience in med device manufacturing plant is highly desirable.
High degree of human relations skills and effective oral and written communication skills are required.
Must be results oriented and committed to the attainment of short and long-range plant objectives.
Must also be capable of defining the short and long-term direction of the plant controllership function.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred (Accounting or Finance, Master's Degree Business Adm and CMA or CPA certification.)
Minimum of 7 years of experience required; 10 years preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
This is largely a sedentary role.
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
General office environment combined with tours and other trips throughout entire manufacturing and warehouse facility.
