We are looking for a skilled Accounting Supervisor to manage daily accounting activities, ensuring precision, compliance, and efficiency in financial transactions and reporting. This position will involve supervising the accounting team, handling accounts payable and receivable, assisting with month-end and year-end processes, and supporting the Controller. The ideal candidate should have a background in legal accounting, familiarity with industry-specific software, and strong leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the accounting team, overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing processes.
Ensure accurate and timely client billing, trust account management, and financial transactions in accordance with company policies and legal industry standards.
Assist the Controller with bank account, trust account, and general ledger reconciliations.
Maintain adherence to accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations relevant to the legal industry.
Develop and refine accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Train and mentor accounting team members to enhance accuracy and productivity.
Collaborate with attorneys, department heads, and management to provide financial insights and assist with decision-making.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
At least 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Familiarity with legal accounting software is a plus.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments.
