The Office of Academic Innovation (OAI) provides leadership and support for campus activities that explore and promote excellence in teaching and learning, innovative curricular technology use, and community-based learning. OAI serves as a thought leader and thought partner for campus initiatives such as changing curricular and educational delivery models, improving student success, and advancing teaching, learning, and assessment practices. OAI works with individuals and departments, convenes learning communities, engages in campus-wide conversations, and develops digital resource materials.
The OAI staff includes individuals with expertise in organizational development, instructional design, community-based learning, assessment, curriculum and instruction, adult learning, instructional technology, multimedia development, and educational leadership. The Office of Academic Innovation (OAI) provides leadership and support for PSU initiatives that respond to these rapid changes, including changing curricular and educational delivery models and innovative technology use. Each position at OAI therefore requires:

Position Summary Keeping current with emerging and state-of-the-art learning technologies and developments in pedagogy to enhance the unit’s knowledge basis and benefit PSU is critical. The Instructional Multimedia Coordinator acts as part of the Digital Learning and Design Team to plan, coordinate, and support faculty in the production of video assets and other formats of instructional media assets to enhance student learning in individual courses and throughout programs of study. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Digital Learning and Design, this position coordinates daily multimedia operations for our office, provides creative, effective, and accessible media production, and provides consultations to faculty who use multimedia in their courses. The Coordinator also produces video assets and other media elements for courses and OAI projects using a variety of current and emerging digital and traditional technologies (e.g. video, podcasts, animations, interactive activities, static files, etc.). This production requires fluency with video, audio, and document software technologies, including pdf remediation software, and multimedia-related AI technology. The Coordinator will establish media design standards and templates for OAI and campus partners.
This position reports to the Associate Director of Digital Learning and Design and works closely with the other Digital Learning and Design team members and other OAI staff. This work requires face-to-face interaction with supervisors, OAI staff, team members, and faculty.

In accordance with the AAUP collective bargaining agreement this position is open only to current PSU AAUP academic professionals. Article 17 Section 11 refers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in broadcast, electronic/multimedia, graphic design, communications, visual communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience creating and editing multimedia content using software such as Final Cut Pro, ClipChamp, Photoshop, InDesign, or similar applications.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience creating multimedia strategy, process and planning, and producing multimedia projects.
  • Knowledge of learning and instructional theory and adult learning principles.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Proven experience delivering training and providing consultation services for instructional multimedia
  • Thorough understanding of online learning, and applicable instructional design principles and practices
  • Experience with MediaSpace, Zoom, Google Vids.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence audio/video generation and editing tools
  • Minimum 1 year work experience in a higher education environment
  • Minimum 2 years experience coordinating multimedia production work
  • Demonstrated project management experience or PM certification

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be $57,060, but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
