Description: The operations analyst conducts operational and cost benefit studies, surveys and research to support development or revision of objectives, policies, practices and programs. The operations analyst also coordinates and participates in major cost and process improvement initiatives and projects, and provides technical support in managing the business unit's financial performance.
Responsibilities: Under minimal direction, develop and recommend programs and methods to measure work performance, foster cost savings and improve efficiency. Work with renewable generation business unit management to analyze data sets, and built data tables. Responsible to maintain areas weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Identify areas for cost control, including direct allocations of corporate costs and process efficiency improvements; where appropriate, participate in development and implementation of action plan. (20-25%)
Work with renewable generation business unit management to identify sources of data and implement processes to support unit cost determination and ongoing tracking. (20-25%)
Develop methods and processes to provide more accurate and timely renewable generation business unit O&M and capital expenditure forecasts. (10-15%)
Review and verify proposed renewable generation business unit O&M budget and ten-year plan; identify significant issues and work with delivery business unit management to resolve issues and prioritize expenditures. (10-15%)
Review and investigate renewable generation operational issues. Participate in panels of inquiry as requested. (10-15%)
Work with renewable generation business unit personnel with documentation and support for significant formal and blanket capital project authorization requests. (5%)
Provide assistance in the management of storm recovery costs; review and verify storm cost invoices. Participate in storm recovery duties as needed. Act as a company liaison with outside entities such as mutual assistance contacts and insurance companies. (5%)
Coordinate and participate in major improvement initiatives such as the storm plan, system reliability plans and compliance. (5%)
Conduct feasibility studies, surveys and research to support development or revision of objectives, policies, practices and programs. (5%)
Provide technical leadership to staff. (5%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5%)
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree).
Six or more years' experience related to utility and/or business operations or equivalent.
Eight or more years' experience related to utility and/or business operations or equivalent required for the senior operations analyst role.
Advanced leadership skills to direct the activities of individuals and/or teams toward the accomplishment of goals.
Effective analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events to draw logical conclusions and to make recommendations for action.
Proficient skills in excel, access and sequel database inquiries.
Planning skills to develop plans and forecasts and to manage and coordinate projects.
Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and persuade opinion.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
