In our time of growth, we are seeking dedicated and talented individuals to add to our Specialized Pavement Marking (SPM) team in Tualatin, OR. We are currently looking to add a Director, Human Resources.

This is an on-site position.

Reporting directly to the President of SPM, this role will be responsible for helping SPM build out our HR operations by developing, implementing and managing HR strategy and initiatives around employee relations, communication, recruiting/onboarding, benefits, compensation, payroll and compliance. This is a highly visible, high impact position where a successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a decisive role in the future success and growth of the organization. Must be someone willing and able to directly engage in tactical execution while simultaneously leading teams to their goals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive talent strategy that is closely aligned and strongly integrated with the business strategy, ensuring that the company is making the right talent decisions to deliver the ambitions of the organization today and tomorrow
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management
  • Provide HR support and execute on the day to day HR operations needed supporting employees and managers
  • Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Drive continuous improvement of HR processes
  • Lead and execute HR programs such as Benefits, Compensation, Onboarding, Talent Acquisition,
    Succession Plan, Performance Management, and assist with duties and responsibilities associated with M&A targets and onboarding
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS)
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies inhuman resources, talent management, and employment law
  • This individual will be responsible for human resources activity and duties over multi‐state, multi‐locations including California
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with working in a small company, roll up your sleeves/hands-on environment a must
  • Strategic-thinker who is capable of helping SPM scale its HR operation as we grow
  • A track record of success working in and influencing a fast‐paced entrepreneurial organization
  • Experience in a blue collar environment, medium sized business setting. (200‐500 Employees)
  • Experience with a distributed workforce across many locations
  • Previous experience supporting HR functions in a multi‐state company including California a plus
  • Experience with a unionized workforce strongly preferred
  • Strengths in talent acquisition/development, ability to set the strategy, as well as the ability to recruit directly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management
    systems
  • Minimal travel will be required for this role

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years related human resources generalist and leadership experience
  • Background directing benefits administration, compensation practices and employee relations

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times
