Position: Motor Grade Operator
Location: Newark, DE
Experience Requirement: 3+ years’ experience operating a motor grader; experience on heavy highway and bridge projects; excavator experience preferred
Travel: open to regional travel
We are currently looking for a Motor Grade Operator to join our team at our Newark, DE project. Reporting to direct field supervision, the Motor Grade Operator is responsible for proficiently and safely operating all required equipment. He or She should be able to work independently as well as be able to communicate effectively. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction projects and ensures all plans move forward to meet project deadlines in a safe manner. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Job Requirements:
• Be able to fine grade soil and stone prior to application of asphalt paving of roadways and approaches to bridges.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment, to include but not limited to motor grader. Experience operating excavators also is preferred.
Knowledge about the computerized systems (i.e. Trimble) which regulates the grader blade to achieve the specified grade for the project is helpful.
Job Duties:
• Manipulate or depress hand and/or foot controls including pedals, levers, and buttons to regulate speed and direction of movement.
• Must assure material is prepared to proper grade as provided by specifications for the project.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Inspect equipment daily for defective parts and record date and malfunction in a log.
• Ability to receive and communicate detailed instructions with supervision and co-workers.
• Must be capable of completing assigned tasks with little or no supervision.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
• Must be able to sit for up to 3-4 hours at a time.
• Must be able to climb into the cab of equipment and climb down from the equipment cab.
• Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl to perform essential tasks including maintenance and inspection of equipment
• Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
• Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces.
• Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
• Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
