The Modesto Bee is seeking an enterprising, reader-focused reporter who will break news and provide deep coverage of local K-12 education issues that connect with parents, educators and others in our region. Accountability reporting is a key part of this position.

We’re looking for an education reporter with the ability to build a diverse network of sources and generate high-impact coverage with input from people in communities across our region and other stakeholders in our K-12 education system.

The city boasts tree-lined streets and parklands with walking and bike trails. We’re 75 miles east of the Bay Area and a 2½ -hour drive from Yosemite, Monterey and skiing.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is between $25.64 and $28.72 per hour, based on 37.50 hours per week. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography and local wage and hours laws.
