Title: Sr. Coordinator, Technical Documentation & Configuration Management

Key Accountabilities:



  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of technical documentation and configuration management as it pertains to the defense business in North America (Naval and Land)

  • Work closely with the responsible departments in Germany for Land (MGSD) and Naval (MGSE) technical documentation and configuration management to ensure accuracy and proper notification of documentation and impending changes that will affect US programs

  • Propose and coordinate configuration management, taking into account the specific technical information as well as all standards and specifications with internal and external contract partners

  • Execute the quality control of all configuration documentation delivered to the customer from both internal and external sources

  • Coordinate and contribute to creation of technical documentation to support both Naval and Land Defense programs, including: configuration change memos, spare parts catalogs, maintenance manuals (QL1, 2, 3, 4), customer notification memos

  • Create technical and administrative rules and guidelines during the development and the following utilization phase of the configuration

  • Provide version control (released state) for components and systems inclusive of the software components (functional software)

  • Develop proficiency with software required for authoring/editing technical documents and customer notifications

  • Administer acceptance or rejection of any impending technical change to an affected US program

  • Effectively communicate with customers and OEMs regarding documentation or configuration management

  • Administer the drawings and parts lists required under executed contracts

  • Establish internal work instructions and adjust them to the process descriptions of external default standards.

  • Create offers and preparation of contract text for orders of configuration management, configuration changes (requested by customer), and technical documentation

  • Provide advice, guidance and instructions for staff members having little experience or qualification with configuration management or technical documentation

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of specifications, changing regulations, industry standards and authoring tools

  • Keep management informed of program status, pending problems, financial impact and major issues

  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.

  • Perform special projects as required.




Basic Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Business Management or Logistics and 5 years of experience in providing configuration management, integrated logistics support, technical support or technical project management; or 9 years of experience in providing configuration management, integrated logistics support, technical support, or technical project management

  • Ability to travel - domestic and international

  • Must be a US Citizen




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Excellent ability to pay attention to detail to produce highly accurate work product

  • Excellent ability to visualize and comprehend all aspects of technical content editing

  • Strong ability to interpret blueprints

  • Strong ability to balance activities of many project and unique assignments

  • Strong organizational, planning and follow-up skills

  • Strong ability to work independently, with little direction, and effectively with teams

  • Strong oral, presentation and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others

  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability

  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

  • Knowledge of MTU or comparable diesel products, and their applications

  • Knowledge or experience with SGML and authorizing tool like Epic or with XML and authorizing tool like XMetal or equivalent authoring tool
