To provide professional leadership, design and field support for all electrical/controls systems as well as, blow-molding and downstream packaging equipment within Ring Container Technologies facilities. Capital project management and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, refrigeration, and electrical systems from a controls perspective is a major portion of this job function. Provide direction to project teams to ensure successful completion of all related projects. This is a hands-on, team player position that also provides guidance and mentorship to other engineers and the ability to provide servant leadership from corporate is critical to the success of the Technical Services Department.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
This position is mostly self-directed and is responsible for managing electrical and controls aspects of capital and plant improvement projects. Mentoring and training of plant personnel while on specific trouble calls or installation visits is important for development of plant personnel to address future issues. Providing expert consulting to other electrical engineers is critical to the success of the department.
Capital Project Management
Project Management - Develop and manage capital projects as assigned to ensure correct scope, justifications, and appropriate execution.
Engineering/Design - Design and engineer capital projects including control systems design, sizing and selection of equipment. Responsible for overseeing the development of project electrical drawing and documentation package, as well as consulting with other electrical engineers.
Construction Management - Manage capital project installations to ensure desired construction, specification, and timeline results are achieved with minimal cost. Provide leadership to all engineers on all infrastructure components.
Contractor Management - Control the use of contractors as related to capital expenditures. Coordinate the contractors to support any and all plant personnel as necessary.
Leadership and Innovation
Provide leadership to the Company and personnel to improve engineering and operational initiatives.
Provide direction and where appropriate manage other engineers to ensure electrical controls projects are achieve desired results.
Drive engineering support to reduce costs and increase profit margins.
Manage utility companies and other service providers and ensure coordination with plant to minimize disruption, reduce costs, and ensure all regulatory agency compliance is achieved.
Maintain appropriate communications with regulatory agencies as required.
Provide leadership, support and motivation to the facility personnel to improve operating efficiencies, controls knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
Perpetual searching for more efficient implementations in the Plants by using your technical knowledge and creative ideas.
Provide servant leadership, camaraderie and support to colleagues to enhance teamwork of the organization to achieve common Company goals, as well as, the Technical Services departmental goal to become "The Best in Industry at the Execution of Projects" .
Experience and Educational Qualifications
Requires a 4-year technical degree (B.S. in Electrical Engineering preferred)
7+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in plastics manufacturing
Demonstrated leadership characteristics: directing others, building effective teams, and priority setting
Strong skills in project management
Clear understanding of production, maintenance, engineering
Proficient in PLC programming, industrial networking, power systems, and motor controls
Experienced and able to travel extensively (road tested)
Skilled in CAD (AutoCAD/Solidworks), Project Scheduling (MS Project) software, Human Machine Interface (HMI), Power Distribution, and general PC functions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
