Overview

The Project Manager – Mid is responsible for coordinating and managing cybersecurity and IT-related projects within the Department of Commerce (DOC). This role involves developing detailed project plans, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet project objectives efficiently.

*This position is dependent upon contract award. Selected candidate must be onsite in Washington, DC.*



Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies for cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Assign responsibilities and monitor project progress to ensure milestones are met.
  • Prepare and present detailed project status reports to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and summarize project constraints, including time, scope, and cost.
  • Analyze new project-related problems involving technology, methodology, tools, or applications and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal cybersecurity standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, including work breakdown structures (WBS), risk management plans, quality control plans, communications plans, and project reports.
  • Facilitate meetings, provide clear communication, and ensure efficient collaboration across teams.
  • Perform and assist tracking Bureau progress of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and/or Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM) implementation to include generating tables, briefing documentation, and narratives.
  • Technical support for current and future CDM/ZTA phases to include technical knowledge of network and relay architecture, data flows, data aggregation, hardware and software asset management, secure configuration management, and vulnerability management, credential management, and privileged access management.
    • Maintenance of performance metrics related to the implementation of CDM/ZTA;
    • Maintenance of executive management dashboards/reports on the Department’s CDM/ZTA program and all its phases;
    • Assistance with working group meetings including maintenance of minutes and tracking action items;
    • Maintenance of licenses, license cost and period of performance;
    • Project management support related to implementation of current and future CDM/ZTA phases across DOC and its bureaus.


Qualifications

  • Must have an active Public Trust clearance.
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT project management within a federal environment.
  • Experience in managing projects involving cybersecurity, risk management, or IT infrastructure.
  • Systems Tools Familiarity: Microsoft Project, Jira, ServiceNow, SharePoint, and other project management tools.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with FISMA, NIST 800-53, and other federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working with DOC or similar federal agencies.
  • Certifications in project management (PMP or FAC/PPM) equivalent certification.
