SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America.

Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and a key member of the company's finance leadership team, the Vice President - Tax, will be responsible for driving SOLV Energy's tax function including tax compliance, tax provision and tax planning. Ideal candidates will possess previous financial structuring experience as a tax leader in growing, entrepreneurial businesses. This position will require up to ~30% travel based on location and/or needs of the business.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

The Vice President - Tax will have the following primary duties:



  • Tax Compliance: Oversee all aspects of tax compliance, including the preparation and submission of partnership tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings; Own related process documentation and internal controls ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404


  • Tax Provision: Manage the preparation and review of tax provisions and ensure the accuracy of tax-related financial reporting

    • Reporting: Oversee all aspects of quarterly and annual financial reporting for income tax and manage worldwide non-GAAP tax provision, tax reserves, ASC 740 and ASC 450



  • SEC Compliance: Lead the-tax related aspects to comply with SEC regulations, including coordination with external advisors. Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and related internal controls for tax matters


  • Tax Strategy: Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the company's business objectives and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations


    • Tax Planning: Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to minimize the company's tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits


    • Policy: Implement and execute tax policies covering all tax matters including employment tax, global tax audits and tax assumptions as required to be incorporated in project assumptions


    • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate tax-related risks, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations




  • M&A Activities: Lead tax due diligence and integration for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions

    • Structuring Transactions: Provide active support to tax equity structures and transactions, advising leadership in strategic decision making with products and jurisdictions, mergers and acquisitions restructuring and providing tax guidance to ensure business budget and planning accounts for tax assumptions and consideration



  • Leadership: Serve as a leader in building, maintaining, and leveraging close working relationships with internal partners, including executive management, financial reporting, accounting, treasury, legal, HR and business operations


  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, legal advisors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure effective tax management


Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Tax related discipline, preferably with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or economics

  • MST (Master's Degree in Taxation), EA, JD/LLM preferred

  • Experience with partnership tax compliance required and experience with Up-C structures and tax receivable agreements preferred/required

  • Experience with M&A due diligence and integration, structuring transactions, including financing transactions and tax equity preferred

  • Experience with Renewables and/or Construction preferred

  • Familiarity with indirect taxes related to the Solar Utilities or Construction industry preferred

Compensation Range:

$220,000.00 - $322,000.00
