The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Production Lead who will be measured by the overall performance of the team, and will assist the department supervisor in directing the day-to-day work activities of a department or work group to meet production schedules, efficiencies and quality targets for the department. The main goal is to continually manufacture product at a higher quality and lower cost.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:


  • Assure that all operations are being done in a safe manner and all safety equipment is working properly.
  • Know how the equipment in the department works and how to identify malfunctions. Notify Maintenance if there's a problem with any of the equipment.
  • Have proficient knowledge in company ERP system (SAP)
  • Should be leading the crew/s under them:

    • Checking the work in progress to be sure it's being made correctly.
    • Ensure labor and materials issued for work in progress are being properly logged in SAP.
    • Motivating the crew to meet the labor targets.
    • Provide verbal feedback (corrective, developmental and/or reinforcing) to employees and communicate with supervisor on overall employee performance including safety, attendance, policy violation, etc.
    • Monitor the crews training progress, assess individual training needs, and communicate needs to supervisor.
  • Eliminate wasted time by having the materials for the next order on hand and ready to be used.
  • Notify Engineering of any discrepancies between GWI and actual process.
  • Notify Quality and the Supervisor if any of the materials are not acceptable.
  • Prepare the area and materials for the following shift so work can continue uninterrupted.

The lead person should be walking the shop floor assisting the staff to:

  • Make the product to meet the quality expectations and
  • Meet the production schedule.

Required Qualifications:


  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalency
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with panel fabrication (lay-up).
  • Press operation experience.
  • Knowledge of fabrication material such as adhesives and prepreg.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in interpretation of blue print work instructions. Experience with mobile equipment (Forklift/ Big Joe)
  • Understanding of MRP systems (SAP)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be available to work the shift specified by the position and be flexible to potential overtime on weekends/ holidays.
