Under the direction of the Vice President, Individual Giving, the Director of Individual Giving oversees strategic planning & development to raise support for, and advance Habitat for Humanity's mission by sustaining and growing relationships, leading to major and principal gifts, through innovative relationship fundraising best practices. This role is responsible for implementing creative, cutting-edge tactics to financially engage individual donors and prospects in the work of Habitat for Humanity. The Director supervises selected development officers in their assigned region to plan and execute the identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and growth of five-figure and above gifts, including major and planned gifts.
As a skilled networking professional, the successful candidate must demonstrate expertise in major giving and tenacity in building relationships with individuals that result in donations. The Director, Individual Giving is charged with developing and implementing strategies for securing financial support from a portfolio of 100 - 150 donors and prospects. They are also responsible for ensuring that the development officers for whom they are responsible perform these same functions for their portfolios. The candidate must possess the ability to convert relationships into financial gifts that will ensure individual and team annual fundraising goals are met or exceeded. They must also successfully navigate our a federated network in order to partner with affiliates on share prospects, and develop a keen understanding of our impact programs, working with key cross-functional stakeholders to build compelling proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as individual giving team captain, supervising select fundraisers in your assigned region, including overseeing their annual planning, goal setting, moves management of donors, tracking and reporting to meet or exceed team revenue goals. (estimated as 20% of role)
• Establish and maintain partner-relationships with Affiliates in your assigned territory, collaborating on solicitation of shared donors. (estimated as 10% of role)
• In coordination with the Vice President, Individual Giving support all aspects of the Individual Giving fundraising plan from the development of innovative growth strategies to expand and diversify Habitat's major and principal giving support to the implementation and delivery of annual department fundraising plans. (estimated as 20% of role)
• Execute strategies to identify, research, cultivate, solicit and steward a donor portfolio of ultra-high net worth individuals to secure five-figure gifts and above, collaborating with the Vice President, Individual Giving and/or Chief Development Officer as appropriate. (estimated as 25% of role)
• Partner and collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and other key stakeholders, including board members and organizational leaders, to identify revenue generation and engagement opportunities that advance Habitat's mission, priority programs, and transformation initiatives. (estimated as 20% of role)
• Other duties as assigned. (estimated as 5% of role)
Minimum Required:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10+ years of experience including 5+ years of specific front-line experience in developing leadership gifts in a nationwide setting, preferably as part of a nationally deployed team
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in an environment of similar complexity
• Ability to engage senior leaders, board members and key stakeholders in donor visits, and to earn and maintain their confidence
• Demonstrated track record of supervising dynamic, high-performing teams
• Demonstrated track record of execution of donor plans with excellence including strategic thinking, proposal development, negotiation with internal leadership to form strong opportunities for donor investment.
• Successful experience closing complex six-figure commitments including planned gifts, campaign and endowment gifts, and investment options
• Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including principal donors, Board members, national staff and leadership in the field
• Ability to collaborate with others in a complex, matrix-structured, dynamic organizational environment
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, and a capacity to engage, inspire and persuade

Preferred:
• Master's degree
• CFRE certification

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $116,030 to $136,500.
Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Americus, GA / Washington, DC), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
