We are seeking a degreed Accounting Supervisor to join our Partnership Accounting team within the Accounting & Finance Department at HGI's corporate office. HGI has a multi-tiered partnership structure with new fund and investor-level entities being created with each new real estate acquisition. The Partnership Accounting Supervisor will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the partnership accounting team and will be responsible for maintaining the books and records for upper-tier partnership entities within the deal structure. This position requires a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, strong leadership skills, Excel skills, and the ability to learn Yardi accounting software. The Supervisor will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team motivated to continuously improve processes through innovation and ideas from the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and provide leadership to the Partnership Accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of partnership accounting tasks.
Oversee the setup, maintenance, and review of partnership books in Yardi accounting software, including reviewing journal entries and the bank reconciliation process.
Independently ensure proper setup of legal entities and general ledgers in Yardi with each new acquisition by reviewing partnership operating agreements and acquisition closing documents.
Interpret entity organizational structure charts and facilitate coordination between the accounting team and other departments.
Collaborate with the Treasury and Real Estate Accounting teams to reconcile asset acquisition costs, investor contributions, and recommend transfers of partnership cash to deal-level accounts.
Oversee the tracking and upload of investor commitments, contributions, and ownership percentages into Yardi.
Review and create loan schedules for internal entity promissory notes.
Act as a backup to the Investor Relations team for posting distribution batches when necessary.
Review books and records for year-end tax work and assist in addressing follow-up questions from CPA firms.
Collaborate with IT, Investor Relations, and the Partnership Accounting team on Yardi software upgrades and process improvement initiatives.
Lead and contribute to the development of efficient processes by leveraging technology and innovation.
Assist the Manager of Partnership Accounting with special projects and ongoing strategic initiatives.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent discipline.
3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or private equity, with at least 1 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Experience in private equity fund accounting a plus.
CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a team to achieve departmental goals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively manage ambiguity and complexity, especially during high-demand periods.
Strong ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data precisely and succinctly.
Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Passion for continuous improvement, learning, and innovation in accounting processes.
Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., v-lookups, pivot tables, advanced formulas).
Ability to learn and utilize Yardi accounting software. Previous experience with Yardi is a plus.
