Description:
We are looking to hire a PCA/Para Educator. You will be working 1 on 1 with students providing behavior and academic support and assist in implementing an effective educational programs for the students assigned by their case manager. Assist in providing instruction and meeting special needs which includes feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions of students with disabilities. Start date August 26th


Shift: 7:45-2:45 with paid break M-F


Contract is guaranteed until end of the school year



Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction as directed by teacher to individuals in a
  variety of areas including cognitive, gross and fine motor skills, feeding skills, self help skills and behavior control.


• Assist teacher in maintaining health and safety of physically handicapped students by being aware of environment and the potential hazards of each child's actions.


• Assist students with personal hygiene, including washing hands and faces, toileting, and changing diapers and clothing as needed.


• Monitor and control student behavior in accordance with established guidelines.


• Assist other specialists with physical development activities.


• Prepare students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures.


• Attend periodic and special training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional program as required.


• Assist students with braces and other orthopedic equipment to lift, position, and reposition students as needed.


• Assist teacher in maintaining a variety of records related to student progress


• Implement positive behavior intervention support policies.


• Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff as needed.


• Assist students in social interactions.


• Work cooperatively with others and independently as needed.


• Perform other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associates degree -48 college credits
  
  


• PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance( within 1 year)


• PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance(within 1 year)


• PA Department of Education FBI (within 1 year)


• TB Screening - current within 3 months


• Arrest/Conviction Form(within 1 year)


• Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts


• Reporter Training Certificate(Act 126)(5 years)


• First Aid and CPR procedures
  
  


• Basic record-keeping techniques.


• Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
